At the beginning of the 18th Century, The railroad was essential in order to become a “civilized country”; Nicaragua began to build the railroad very lately.
The route San Jorge- San Juan del Sur was built from 1929 to 1932 during the government of the General Moncada.
Old Train Station
The main purpose was to establish communication between the great lake of Nicaragua and the Pacific Coast making connections with Granada.
“La Estación” Hotel is located very close to the extinct railroad station and we have collected a lot of historical pictures that will make live those days where the sound of the railway engine was announcing the next stop.
